Legislative Committees and Accomplishments
Tom Serves On:
"The House Agriculture Policy Committee"
As a freshmen Tom handled and passed the 2005 Omnibus Ag Bill
Tom also drafted, handled and Passed unanimously
HB1349
which established "The Family Farms Act."
"Conservation and Natural Resources Committee"
This committee deals with Department of Conservation Issues, such as Wildlife issues, stream bank stabilization, and
gravel mining.
Tom was appointed to this committee in February 2006. After much debate and negotiations he passed the
Gravel Bill.
It was debated briefly on the house floor and set aside.
"Appropriations for Economic Development
and Transportation"
This determines economics and funds to be used for job creation,
business development, and infrastructure. Transportation funding not only deals
with roadway and highways but also buses, rivers, and trails. This
committee also includes tourism. Even though cuts have been made in tourism, Tom
has been instrumental in keeping funds available to maintain this state's 2nd largest
Economic engine.
